The 25th Annual Engagement Scholarship Consortium International Conference will be hosted by Virginia Tech on Oct. 6-9, 2025, at the historic Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center.

Each year, hundreds of scholars, practitioners, and community leaders from around the world gather for the annual meeting to discuss the many ways universities are working collaboratively to define and build social and economic prosperity.

The 2025 theme, “Bridging Resources to Build Stronger Communities,” reflects the powerful connections being fostered as higher education institutions and communities work together to solve real-world challenges.

"At Virginia Tech, community engagement is part of who we are as a land-grant university. Every day, we witness the magic that happens when academic expertise meets community wisdom," said Susan E. Short, associate vice president for engagement with Outreach and International Affairs and vice president of ESC. “Join us in October 2025 in Roanoke to be inspired by and connect with other scholars who are making a lasting impact in communities around the world.”

Each year at the conference, the W. K. Kellogg Foundation Community Engagement Scholarship Awards recognize four-year public universities that have made exemplary strides to become more closely and productively engaged with communities.
