A video highlighting Virginia Tech’s work in sustainable agriculture has captured widespread attention in Bangladesh, garnering more than 131,000 views on social media. The video demonstrates how the university’s Integrated Pest Management Activity is transforming agricultural practices across the South Asian nation.

Implemented through the Center for International Research, Education, and Development, IPMA represents a crucial component of USAID Bangladesh’s Feed the Future initiative. The project focuses on strengthening Bangladesh’s agricultural sector by introducing environmentally conscious pest management strategies.

“The main goal of this project is to enhance the capacity of stakeholders involved in Bangladesh’s agricultural sector, enabling them to control and prevent the spread of current and emerging threats to crops in an environmentally friendly manner,” explains the video, which was produced by the IPMA team and has attracted nearly 1,000 likes on the USAID Bangladesh Facebook page.

The initiative exemplifies how international academic partnerships can drive sustainable agricultural development while protecting vital food resources. By reducing reliance on chemical pesticides, the project helps farmers cut operational costs while safeguarding environmental and consumer health.
